New year, new me or something like that?

After shooting a bunch more in 2024 and really enjoying shooting live shows, I decided I was going to grab a more flexible solution in 2025.

Facebook Marketplace came through for me at the end of the year, and although I was out of country for December a friend was kind enough to grab this like-new X-T5, 16-55 2.8, and 50-140 2.8 for me for less than the price of the two lenses new. It came with a bunch of filters, smallrig grips, a Peak Design Slide Lite, 5 total first party batteries, and a first party dual battery charger. I grabbed the 16 1.4 and OG 56 1.2 just last night. I plan on adding the 23 1.4 this month, and then the 8-16 2.8 and maybe the 33 1.4 later this year. I have a feeling that the 16-55 and the 50-140 will end up being my workhorse pieces however.

I was on the fence between grabbing another A7iii and a 24-70 2.8, but I couldn’t help myself with this deal. I’ve really grown to enjoy shooting Fuji over the past while, and the experience feels very similar with the X-T5, just a lot faster.

Couple notes on the X-T5:

New 40mp high res sensor for better cropping
IBIS for crispier handhelds
Interchangeable lenses
Dual card slots
Considerably better autofocus with subject detection, really nice eye AF, and pretty sticky tracking
A solid used market in my local area
Cross-functionality of my flash gear between my X100V and X-T5

So far I’m relatively impressed, I look forward to exploring this body a bit more over the next while!
