Figured I’d round out my lens selection a bit more so I could have a bit more variety and modularity in my kit!
Fuji XF 18 1.4 LM WR
XF 18 1.4 LM WR - Very sharp and great depth of field even for such a wide lens.
I picked this up used at Map Camera in Shinjuku on my recent trip back to Japan. With the lens being purchased tax free and used, I ended up paying around $800CAD all in. Considering the retail cost this was an incredible deal for a lens in incredible shape. It’s a really good lens as a daily walk around or for pairing with the…
Fuji XF 33 1.4 LM WR
XF 33 1.4 LM WR - A bit more compression for slightly better subject isolation.
This was a facebook marketplace pickup. I bought from Amazon at retail, but shortly after this popped up for $600CAD. I couldn’t help myself, so the retail lens made its way back and this was added to my collection. Condition is great, lightning fast autofocus and clinical sharpness as expected from Fuji’s newer lenses. It’s got a bit more compression and isolation than the 23, and similarly to how the 23 and 56 make a great pairing for specific venues or events, the 18 and 33 make a great pairing as well.
Viltrox 75 1.2 Pro
Viltrox 75 1.2 Pro - Absolutely beautiful.
Long, fast, and another razor blade of a lens. It does struggle a bit when switching focus across large distances as one would expect - It’s a lot of glass to move around. That said, it’s a bokeh monster. This was also a marketplace pickup for $650CAD, and well worth the price of entry. This likely won’t get as much use as the 56 1.2, but I have had many scenarios where a longer fast lens would have been beneficial - Solo performers are a great example.
These three add ons let me be much more modular in my focal length selection for darker venues (What I mostly shoot). I still have a very small shopping list for lenses (A real long lens like the Fuji 150-600, a fast regular like the Viltrox 27 1.2, and a fast ultra wide like the Viltrox 13 1.4) but these can wait for whenever opportunity strikes. Overall, my lens selection grew a lot faster than I expected in 2025! Let’s see what 2026 brings.
